Moura meets all environmental standards set by current legislation, including the recycling of batteries in accordance with the National Solid Waste Policy, Resolution CONAMA 401/08 and Law No. 12,305 / 10. The Company invests heavily in environmental safety at all of its plants, maintaining constant and stringent control of the air quality, water quality, and quality of land around its sites. Due to its investments and in accordance with legal requirements, Moura is ISO 14001 certified, which testifies that the company’s activities are environmentally responsible. In order to obtain and maintain its ISO 14001 certification, the company is submitted to periodic audits by an accredited certifier that is recognised by both national and international organisations.
At Moura, we have a recycling structure that aims to correctly dispose of all discarded batteries. Our entire Distribution Network are able to accept used batteries, which are then treated in accordance with the National Solid Waste Policy, Resolution CONAMA 401/08 and Law No. 12,305 / 10. All discarded batteries are returned to our manufacturing plants to then re-enter the production process, and almost 100% of its components are reused. The main difference between the products is the fact Moura Boat offers a Deep Cycle type battery. The Boat products have been specially developed for use in marine vessels and offer a charge of up to 80% of its capacity, whilst this value is 20% for car batteries.

Moura batteries last up to 50% longer than ordinary batteries. They have laminated positive plates and a three-dimensional spatial structure to enable them to retain material on the grate, increasing resistance to both vibration and cycling. Our batteries also contain an anticorrosive alloy which ensures lower recharge time and significantly reduces the corrosive action of the electrolytes on the plates and connectors. Our car batteries offer higher performance in vehicles with electronic injection and are recognised by leading manufacturers as a product of superior quality.
For your warranty to remain valid, you must keep your certificate of guarantee and submit it when you require technical support. Each certificate contains a serial number which matches the number which is laser engraved on the battery. To activate the warranty, please contact your local distributor.
Yes. We have our own Technical Support Network with more than 70 locations throughout the country. Certain centres offer a home care service, depending on their location and levels of demand for the service. Moura Clean batteries are sealed batteries and do not require maintenance. They have been specially designed for stationary use such as nobreaks, telecommunications, GTDE, oil and gas. They have greater resistance to cycling, higher temperatures, and are able to remain in standby mode for much longer than ordinary batteries. Moura Clean are certified for use in telecommunications by Anatel, who are the industry’s most demanding body. The batteries were also the first to be certified by Inmetro. They have a safety system which allows them to be used alongside electronic equipment and have even been adapted to deal with Brazil’s tropical climate so that they are able to operate at high temperatures.
To achieve the estimated optimum useful life of four years, the batteries should be kept at a temperature of 25°C. Any higher than this and you should consult our technical brochure for a more accurate estimate of its useful life.
Stationary batteries are not recommended for use in cars. Car batteries are characterised by constant vibration and charges of high electric currents for just a few seconds (during vehicle start-up). Stationary batteries are designed to provide relatively low electric currents for longer periods, and operate under conditions of constant voltage fluctuation.
To find the date of manufacture of your battery, please check the code written on the product. This code is located on the upper part of the battery, and will consist of two letters followed by five numbers. If you are unsure, please contact our Customer Service team on 0800 701 2021, and a member of staff will be able to help you.
The most efficient way to recharge a battery is with a slow charge. By this, we mean a charge whereby the electric current is limited to 10% of the battery’s total capacity. For example: 60 amp-hour (Ah) battery – should be charged with a maximum current of 6 amps. Another factor that affects battery life is voltage when recharging. The higher the voltage, the greater the rate of gasification and, as a result, greater loss of electrolytes. In general, smart chargers are the most efficient for maintining the eletric current at optimum levels and, once the battery is charged, will automatically switch off.
Unfortunately, we cannot determine this as it is dependent on several factors, such as battery charge, electrical leakage, electric current required to start the engine, temperature etc.
The best way of doing this is by giving the battery a high charge and measuring the voltage at each end. If the voltage drops too low, it is a sign that the battery is empty or at the end of its life. To perform this test, we recommend that you visit one of our authorized centres in our Technical Support Network, where a responsible technician can perform the appropriate test. Yes, but only if you can rely on its durability. All car batteries are designed to release highly intense electric currents over short periods of time. Stationary batteries work best with much lower intensities over longer periods. At Moura, we produce stationary batteries with vented or VRLA technology, offering increased durability for use in fluctuating charge or standby appliances.
It depends on the specification of the battery and the vehicle. It is important that the charging system and battery are scaled whenever you install new accessories with higher power consumption. Ideally, you should seek advice on your battery’s model from your electrician.
Car batteries are designed to generate high electric currents for short periods of time in order to start the vehicle. Stationary batteries, however, are designed to generate relatively low currents for long periods of time. These are able to remain constantly charged throughout their operating life, which is called fluctuating charge or standby.
