Baterias Moura received an honorable mention for social responsibility and sustainability at the Qualitas Award for its Tareco e Mariola socio-environmental program. The prize is given by Fiat to its suppliers. The award was given at a ceremony held on June 8, in São Paulo (SP). This is not the first time that Moura has been recognized by Fiat. Last year, the company received the Qualitas for being the best electric supplier.
Tareco e Mariola was created in 1999 and since then it has been led by the company\'s co-founder, Conceição Moura, who is also currently the Vice President of the Board of Directors. She coordinates program activities and says that the award was cause for great celebration. "It was wonderful recognition for Moura, we are all so excited. We think that it is so special that Fiat saw the results from Tareco e Mariola, such as the creation of jobs in the region, for example," says Conceição.
Currently, Tareco e Mariola includes all of the socio-environmental initiatives that take place at Moura units which are spread throughout Brazil. Among the initiatives carried out by the program, the Artisan and Recycling Association is noteworthy. The association was created over ten years ago to train communities in the practice of sorting trash, producing crafts, and carrying out self-sustaining activities.
This is the twentieth edition of the Qualitas Awards at Fiat, but it is the first year that the social responsibility and sustainability award was given. The award is given to those suppliers that stand out the most in terms of quality, service, and management, with an increasing focus on the end customer. Fiat chooses the award winners by considering aspects of quality, service, and management. Companies are recognized in five categories: chemical, electrical, metal, logistics, and services.
