Half a century ago, the idea of manufacturing batteries for vehicles in Northeastern Brazil was considered impossible due to the lack of infrastructure and poor development in the area. Nonetheless, Edson “Mororó” Moura, who at the time was beginning his career in chemistry, together with his wife, insisted in pursuing his dream.
Five decades later, the results speak for themselves. Today, MOURA Batteries has 5 plants and more than fifty companies to assist with commercial distribution and technical assistance. With approximately 2,000 employees, the company is the leader in sales in the Brazilian Original Equipment Market (OEM), and in the Aftermarket. MOURA Batteries supply original equipment to several car manufacturers in South America, including: Ford Motor Company, Volkswagen AG, Fiat Auto, Daimler-Chrysler, Renault, AGCO, and IVECO among others. Furthermore, MOURA Batteries also is the brand leader in sales in the South American market (OE + Aftermarket).
The company is present in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Porto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico, U.S.A, Africa, United Kingdom, and Continental Europe.
